World Record Attempt – Largest human awareness ribbon
October 26th 2011 – More than a thousand people attempted to break a world record yesterday for the biggest human formation of a breast cancer pink ribbon at Meydan. Despite being short on people for the actual record, spirits were high among supporters and breast cancer survivors for the time spent together raising awareness on the disease.
An adjudicator from the Guinness World Records™ was in attendance at the event.
Sally Hamandi, Communications Manager, Nokia Middle East explained “Nokia is about “Connecting People” and a strong believer in being a local company that support the local community. Breast Cancer Arabia is a great opportunity to support a noble cause.”
“Lending a supporting hand to Breast Cancer Arabia was an easy decision for us,” said Simon Page, Managing Director Life Sciences, Informa Exhibitions, who also supported the World Record attempt as part of their CSR programme. “Ongoing community awareness is a fantastic tool for prevention and early detection of breast cancer, particularly in this region, which is why an event like this truly brings the issue to the forefront of people’s minds.”.
